Hearing test

I took Bridget into Okehampton hospital for her hearing test today. She was asked to sit on the very edge of my lap, watching a health visitor sitting opposite her. This health visitor tapped a green brick and a yellow brick together, to bring her attention forwards, while a second health visitor, standing behind me, introduced a series of sounds, first on Bridget's right side, and then on her left. Bridget ignored finger clicks on her right side, but responded to them immediately on the left. She also responded immediately to a very quiet maracca-type rattle, a voice saying 'Mamamamama' and a voice saying 'Ss-ss-ss-ss-ss' on both sides. Apparently the finger-clicking exercise didn't matter particularly, so Bridget has passed with flying colours and has had the relevant box ticked in her book. The whole process took about a minute, which made the infrequency of buses between Sticklepath and Okehampton a bit annoying, but it meant that Mummy and Bridget could have a nice sit down in the cafe before going home.

Bridget's day

Having seen Jeyanth's day, and having been meaning to do something similar for a while, we've jotted down a vaguely plausible outline of Bridget's 'average' day. It's a bit more complicated than Jeyanth's, mostly because there are more feeds, and because nap-times are less predictable.

0745 - Bridget wakes up, with some muttering - and we go in to say hello (beaming smiles!). She has some Mummy milk, then comes down for a breakfast of fruit and cereal (two ice-cubes of fruit, mixed with a table-spoon of baby cereal and a glug or two of cows' milk [cow's milk?]).
0815 - Daddy leaves for Exeter; Bridget finishes breakfast and gets dressed.
0900 - Bridget, who has been playing with Mummy, might go down for a brief nap around now. Or might not.
1000 - More Mummy milk.
1030 - Morning activity. Such as going to 'Jack and Jill's' toddler group, or going swimming in Exeter, or going to baby clinic.
1230 - Lunch: 7 ice-cubes of savoury followed by 2 cubes of fruit mixed with a desertspoon of fromage frais.
1330 - Bridget goes down for a nap (although some days this happens before lunch - crabbiness and dopeyness decide).
1430 - Bridget gets up and plays for half an hour. Might go out into the garden.
1500 - More Mummy milk.
1515 - Playtime, possibly including a walk.
1600 - Possibly another brief nap. (Not many days have all three of the 0900, 1230 and 1600 naps!)
1730 - Evening meal begins: 6 cubes of savoury, 4 of fruit. Daddy normally comes back at some point during this meal.
1745 - Daddy plays with Bridget.
1900 - Bridget's bath-time.
1915 - Mummy milk followed by song / story / prayer / kiss goodnight.
1930 - Sleep, blessed sleep.

At the moment 'playtime' includes a good deal of sitting (surrounded by cushions) with toys within reach; a good deal of lying and rolling; some bouncing in the baby bouncer; being sung to; being read to; sitting outside and watching Mummy blow bubbles; flying.
